God's Not Mad!

Hate is a strong word. It’s not a word I like to use very often, but there is something that I dislike so much that I can’t think of any other way to describe it. I hate religion!

The problem is, most people don’t understand what I mean by that. They often connect religion with being a Christian or going to church, but that’s not at all what I’m talking about. Let me explain what I mean when I express my hatred for religion.

Religion tells you that you must follow certain rules and guidelines in order to “stay right” with God. It tells you that in order for you to experience God’s blessings, you need to act better, give more, serve more and stop sinning! It puts the focus on you and your performance instead of placing your faith in Jesus and His perfect performance on the cross. There’s absolutely no freedom in religion! In fact, the Latin word for religion is religare and it literally means “to bring back to bondage.”

If you are dependent on your ability to build up your righteousness to present to God, you will come up short every time. Grace is about God reaching down to you with His righteousness and qualifying you for every promise in the Bible. Religion says God is too holy to be present in your life when you sin, but grace says He will never leave you nor forsake you.

for He [God]Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not,[I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]
Hebrews 13:5 (AMP)

Don’t listen to what religion tells you. Your sin doesn’t scare God. Believing that God can’t stand to be around you when you have problems in your life causes you to run from the only thing that can help you through them!

Be confident that God is with you no matter what you’re going through. Turn to Him for the help you’ve been looking for. There is no sin powerful enough to separate you from the love God has for you.

I have become absolutely convinced that neither death nor life, neither messenger of Heaven nor monarch of earth, neither what happens today nor what may happen tomorrow, neither a power from on high nor a power from below, nor anything else in God's whole world has any power to separate us from the love of God in Jesus Christ our Lord!
